This is really great of this mosque to do. Hopefully the public and local community will be able to attend and learn a lot more about Islam and the common misconceptions people have of it. This could be the start of an improved relationship with the general public.

Forum hopes to clear up misconceptions about Islam
BURNABY (NEWS1130) - To debunk what it says are misconceptions and stereotypes about women in Islam, the Al-Salaam Mosque in Burnaby, will be holding an open forum tonight.
Imaad Ali, youth director at the Mosque tells News1130 what they'll be talking about. "The traditional family life in Islam, what the Qu'ran says about men and women, what are the rights of a woman? For example, we're going to bring up some of the rights of women that did not exist in pre-Islamic societies."
The forum gets underway at 7:00 pm at 5060 Canada Way.
