Our response:
I'd like to reply first of all by saying you cannot take random verses out of the Qu'ran and come to a conclusion. You have also just picked keywords and phrases out of the verses, some of which end by stating violence can only be used against those who fight you, and not those who offer you peace.
We could find the same conclusion by analyzing the Bible or the Tor'ah (there are sites out there just like hate sites that people use to attack Muslims over). I'm not attacking any other religion though, I'm just putting it into perspective for the readers, as Muslim we believe in the same Prophets and Books the Christians and Jews follow. In fact our Qur'an states even Christians and Jews can go to heaven:
-----------------
Qur'an 2:62 Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
------------------
You have to understand the context (as you do with the Bible), and also remember there were people of other faiths in Arabia at that time, and essentially Arabia was a bloodbath and in a constant state of war (even before Islam)..
The verses in question were revealed in that time of war, when Muslims were driven from their homes and forced to fight for their lives. The Qur'an only allows violence in self-defence and in a time of war.
To put your quotes into context, you've taken verses from chapters 2, 3 and 4. Those were all revealed in Madinah where the Muslims were fighting for their lives, families and very existence where the Quarish tribe constantly attacked and killed Muslims. Those verses are an order to defend themselves.
Regarding 2:193, you missed the rest of it, let me provide the full quote:
2:193 And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah. but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression.
It clearly explains violence can only be used against those who attack you

Original Claim

Islam is a violent religion. Tolerance implies we acknowledge differences in our society. Speaking out against what Islam teaches is not racist or bigotry. It is a genuine difference of opinon. Here is why I have problems with Islam. All verses taken form the Quaran.
2:190-193 "Fight in the cause of God those who fight you ... And slay them wherever ye catch them ... And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression and there prevail justice and faith in God ..."
2:216 "Fighting is prescribed for you and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But God knoweth and ye know not."
2:224 "Then fight in the cause of God and know that God heareth and knoweth all things."
3:157-158 "And if ye are slain or die in the way of God, forgiveness and mercy from God are far better than all they could amass. And if ye die, or are slain, Lo! It is unto God that ye are brought together."
3:169 "Think not of those who are slain in God's way as dead. Nay, they live finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord."
3:195 "... Those who have ... fought or been slain, verily I will blot out from them their iniquities and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath; a reward from the presence of God ..."
4:101 "... For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies
