VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Fasting and works of charity will continue for one more day for BC Muslims.

The end of Ramadan usually coincides with the sighting of the moon in the northern hemisphere.

But in North America, that didn't happen, so celebrations will postponed until Wednesday.

During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating during daylight hours, and make a special effort to give to the poor.

Major celebrations and prayers are scheduled at mosques in Richmond, Surrey, Burnaby and Vancouver.
