Many anti-Islamists charge the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be Upon Him), with being an egocentric tyrant among other things, insisting that his only goal was to deceive people and that he invented Islam himself and that he did not receive divine revelation as Jesus had.
The biggest flaw with that argument is the obvious point that they would never mention. Muhammad already had protection and influence because of a wealthy Uncle.
He risked the life of his friends and family, by even challenging the ideas of the tribal Arabs of the time, and it was almost asking to be put to death to do so.
If he wished to gain power and control, the easiest, quickest and safest route would be to work with the existing societal structure of the time, rather than risking his life unnecessarily.
Everyone should be asking the question, then why did the Prophet Muhammad risk everything held dearly to him in this world to spread the message of Islam, when if he only wanted power there were other easier means to accomplish that goal?
This is a simple yet mostly overlooked argument by both side, that the Prophet Muhammad was motivated by the divine powers of God to make the amazing transformation of chaos in Arabia, to peace and justice in the land.
